As a Miami native, I can say with confidence that Miami Beach is the poster child of desired vacation spots, and a place where partying reaches to new heights. From this fertile landscape comes the new solo project from California raised, Miami-based musician Richard Haig – also known as Panic Bomber.

By mixing a multitude of genres, Panic Bomber has verbally embraced his music as “avant electronic performance techno house pop.” I prefer to call it, entirely experimental and something I’ve never heard before. Though the genre itself is a familiar sound, what Haig produces as an artist is a cocktail of all that is ‘fast-paced’ and stimulating; a surefire way to rev your engine all night long.

Panic Bomber’s newest LP release, Getting on My Mind LP will be released December 15th with eight rocking new tracks, and 4 remixes of the title track. From the opening song, I knew right away that ‘Bang on the Walls’ would be only the beginning of a topsy-turvy techno ride. The track was suspenseful and enticing, with definite electronica influence. I couldn’t help but hear a sense of my playground in Miami embedded in the music, and things only got better for me as the LP went on. ‘Turn to Glass’ has a steady instrumental intermission, but I promise the music won’t put you to sleep.

One of the most interesting things about Haig is his inspiration to put horns behind his music. He has exercised vocoders on party-lyrics, and combined synths with house, pop, techno and electro, but his horns addition really breaks through the barriers of traditional dance tunes.

Aside from composing, Panic Bomber has revolutionized dance music by not only DJ’ing but also acting as the performer. Haig has previously complained, “I have played in live bands in Miami where the band has gotten cut off early at a show because the DJ is scheduled to play.” Well, in retaliation he has chosen a live-dance-music-format with the sole intention of commanding the stage.

A natural-born musician with a knack for tickling the ivories, one would never have expected Panic Bomber to experiment with a few bands or a few sounds … and end up the fiery success story he has become. Creating an endless wake of success, Panic Bomber has emerged as a well-known innovator itching to share his talents, and I suggest you climb on board for the ride – I did.
