Twenty-five years after the song “We Are the World” raised millions of dollars to aid Africa, a new generation of musicians are coming together to re-record the song to benefit Haiti.
Quincy Jones, who produced the 1985 song, announced he plans to redo the song to benefit recovery from the deadly January 12th earthquake in Haiti.
Among those scheduled to perform on the track are Akon, Jason Mraz, Bono, Wyclef Jean, Carlos Santana, Enrique Iglesias, Usher, Toni Braxton and Lady Gaga. The session will be held at the A&M complex in Hollywood- same recording studio where the original song was recorded.
No release date for the single has been announced yet, but we will keep you posted.
